Calling oneself an “artist” is never simple, especially in a world where the word often rhymes with fame.
But being an artist is, above all, a way of inhabiting the world, transforming what we touch, daring the unexpected, and weaving connections with the things and people around us.

In a society where everything pushes us to move faster and obtain everything instantly, choosing an artistic path can seem surprising.
I learned this when I left woodworking for music: around me, surprise, worry, skepticism. Was it fear for myself? A lack of confidence? Or perhaps a reflection of their own renunciations? No matter. What matters is staying the course, for no one knows our path better than we do.

But choosing this path means embracing vertigo, because staying true to an artistic vision is never easy. We must cover the basics, eat, pay the bills and keep our spirits up, even when it is sometimes difficult not to lose ourselves when creation is our compass.

And yet, despite doubts and obstacles, there are moments of grace: a sound that resonates, a note that moves, an audience silent but deeply present. Those moments remind us why we chose this path.

History shows it clearly: those who dared to innovate, challenge habits, or defy norms often faced misunderstanding, poverty, or lack of recognition.
But they lived with unmatched intensity. Some found fortune, sometimes at the cost of a more commercial spirit, even by claiming the ideas of passionate creators. Others left subtle, discreet, luminous works, traces that continue to resonate long after their passing.

Being an artist may mean keeping a fresh gaze in a world that endlessly repeats itself. It also involves persisting despite everything, even when all seems uncertain, while preserving one’s childlike spirit, the one that observes and marvels at each new discovery, drawing inspiration from it without necessarily thinking about tomorrow.

I deeply believe that we all carry an artist within. To awaken it is to learn to see beyond ourselves. To nourish it is to leave behind sparks of light, fragile but sincere traces, fragments of humanity that may outlive us and inspire others to follow their own path.
